easy to use??
I have never owned a fitness watch and was wondering if the FT40 is a good model for a newbie such as myself to start with.

Yes!

The FT40 is very easy to use. It has the Energy Pointer system which simplifies all the Heart Rate Zones down to either Fat Burning or Improving Fitness.

The former is presented as the lower side of a dividing line Energy Pointer.

The latter is above the Energy Pointer's dividing line.

If you might desire a bit more Smart Coaching, the FT60 and FT80 each contain the exceptional STAR Program built right into the wrist unit!
